Redmond


Redmond is a bustling high-desert community. Although Oregon gained statehood 45 years earlier, it wasn’t until 1904 that the first settlers Frank and Josephine Redmond established the first homestead of the area. With an irrigation system and electricity, the city developed quickly and was incorporated in 1910. The Oregon Trunk Railroad opened new markets for farmers, merchants and ranchers, fueling continued growth. During World War II, Redmond operated as a U.S. Air Force Base that later became the region’s only commercial airline airport, Roberts Field.
